Balkan News Corporation Chooses IdeasUnlimited.tv Compliance Recording for Fox International Channels - Bulgaria
Bulgaria’s National Commercial Channel, Fox International, Spearheads Tracking of Ad Air-Time
Bulgaria’s Balkan News Corporation, part of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation, chosen as on-air system integrator of Fox International Channels – Bulgaria, implemented automated compliance recording from the UK’s IdeasUnlimited.tv. Fox International uses ContentProbe CRE2000, integrated by bTV, to record all transmitted content as evidence of the time it gives to advertisers.
Bulgarian law dictates commercial broadcasters may transmit a maximum 10 minutes of third-party advertisements per hour, with stiff financial penalties for failing to comply. Fox International Channels – Bulgaria is spearheading the use of automated recording of all transmitted content as evidence of the time dedicated to advertisers.
IdeasUnlimited.tv’s dual-channel ContentProbe CRE2000 digitally records all transmitted content in RAID 5 for up to 720 days. It constantly monitors for valid input signals and also generates Media FingerPrints of all ingested material as evidence of its source.
“Without compliance recording, it would simply be a case of your word against mine,” explains Balkan News Corporation technical director Dobromir Angelov. “Until now, inspectors had only to suspect commercials had been broadcast for more than the allotted time to serve a fine. Now we have a low-cost means of demonstrating that we always stay within the law, which will save us significant costs.”
“Broadcasters around the world face pressure not only from increasing competition but also from regulatory bodies and law-makers,” says IdeasUnlimited.tv MD Glyn Powell-Evans. “Compliance recording helps broadcasters save money by averting fines while ensuring they provide the highest quality service to audiences and advertisers alike.”
