Starz Entertainment Group LLC (SEG) installed ContentProbe for all-digital, automated compliance transmission recording when IdeasUnlimited.tv revealed its revolutionary low-cost 1-RU automated compliance recorder to the USA at NAB.

Starz Entertainment Group switched from recording transmitted programme and promos on VHS to the dual-channel ContentProbe logging 18 channels for 30 days each. The solution allows the Channel Managing departments to review off-air recordings of transmitted promos and also includes IdeasUnlimited.tv’s FaultTracker to ensure the content contained no technical errors.
ContentProbe filters each channel’s content according to media type, such as promos, programmes and commercials, so searches are quick and efficient.
“For the first time, Starz Entertainment Group’s channel managers can work with all channels at all times, as they no longer have to share VHS tapes or wait for them to be recorded,” says Lonnie Scheele, director of broadcast engineering at SEG. “In addition, engineers can use the same user interface to log and review errors recognised by the FaultTracker module, which generates further efficiencies and assists in troubleshooting.”

Based on IdeasUnlimited.tv’s patented Media Fingerprinting technology, each ContentProbe device stores content internally for up to 720 days and enables authorised users to browse transmitted content from their desktops. ContentProbe Compliance eliminates time wasted on manually recording, archiving and retrieving transmitted content using VHS tapes and also saves considerable storage space. It also confines problems of unreliability, tape-wear and faulty tape heads to the past.
IdeasUnlimited.tv is also to demonstrate its Media Fingerprinting-based ContentProbe Verification, FaultTracker, Network Alarms and Logo Tracker solutions. Verification ensures that signals sent are received as intended at their final destination while FaultTracker alerts operators remotely to problems such as no picture/audio, colour bars or no colour.
